Just Magnolia - Week 11 Bevs sketch

This weeks Just Magnolia sketch was provided by the talented Bev Rochester. Her cards are just amazing. The papers I used were K & Company Classic K Bailey, I actually got the chance to try out my Martha Stewart punch Floral Lace, and the flowers were Papermania.

Holiday in Northumberland

We've just come back from our hols. We had a lovely week in Northumberland. We stayed (again) in a seaside town called Beadnell which is about 5 mins from Seahouses. The beaches in Northumberland are absolutely gorgeous. The weather was really nice and we had a great time. Archie became Neptune's son because we couldn't keep him out of the water. We went on a boat trip to see the Farne Islands and we were lucky enough to see the puffins that nest there. They hadn't flown off yet, so that was a bonus. I also saw my perfect house. If I won the Lottery (tried last night but no luck), then this house would be the house I'd go for. Its very New England style, but its the house I've always dreamed of, but ofcourse it would have to be in a seaside location. I can dream can't I. Anyway back home now and back to reality (god I feel depressed), but at least I'm not in work Monday, so I think I can cope with a 4 day week (possibly). Some holiday pics attached.

Birthday Card/First use of Magnolia Stamp

I can now add the card to my blog that I made for my friend Michele's birthday. It was the first time I had used a Magnolia stamp and I was quite pleased with the result. The papers were from a card kit from Sarah's Cards, and the sentiment stamp was a Stampin' Up stamp and also punch that I had recently purchased. Looking back at the card tho' I wish that I had used a bigger circular scallop as you can only just see the pale blue behind the little girl. Oh well I'll know for next time. Practice makes perfect lol

"Bring me Sunshine"

We had a lovely weekend away. We went to stay in a small town just outside the Forest of Boland. The scenery was beautiful and the weather was lovely as well. Hubby was doing a 12 hour endurance bike race, and he came 2nd in the solo category, so a nice bottle of wine was won. While away we went to Skipton, Settle and Mallam. Monday on our return we went to Morecambe to see Eric Morecambes statue and had fish and chips sitting on the front. How come they always taste nicer out of the paper. Piccies are of Erics statue and mum and me posing at the seaside lol.

Walk in Hale

What gorgeous weather we had this weekend. Saturday we went to see my friend so I could get some more help/tips for making cards, as she has been crafting a lot longer than me and is very good at her cards. Sunday we decided to have a walk in Hale. We also saw the wooden carving of the "Childe of Hale". Hale is famous for it`s quiet nature, cottages and countryside, but most of all for it`s most famous inhabitant who lived there more than 300 years ago. His name is John Middleton and was born in Hale in 1578, but is more commonly known as "The Childe Of Hale"! Even before he was 20 years of age, his height reached a staggering 9 foot 3 inches. This is the most famous of legends connected with John Middleton. One day by Hale Lighthouse he sketched out on the sand an outline of a giant man bigger than himself. He then lay down within the lines of the sketch and went to sleep, wishing that when he woke up he would be the same dimensions of the giant sketch. Once he awoke he found himself to be of the same size of the giant drawing he had sketched out in the sand. Gilbert Ireland took on the giant as a bodygaurd, but it could be more so he took him on, for more than show rather than protection? After a nice walk along the Mersey Estuary, and a cold shandy, we headed home, but poor Archie was so hot that he just collapsed. We spoilt him with a Magnum ice cream and as you can see he really enjoyed it.
